Kathmandu, Oct 31: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has collected Rs 1.17 billion in revenue in the past two months, which is almost Rs 230 million more than the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.
The KMC had collected Rs 934.1 million in revenue in the review period last year. It has received a huge amount of revenue that was long pending in the recent days after its ward offices started collecting revenue, Chief of Revenue Department of KMC Dhruba Kafle said.
The number of taxpayers has also increased after its all 32 wards started tax collection service.
It is said that the number of taxpayers paying property tax and house rent has sharply increased. The KMC has been collecting taxes under nine different headings including property tax, house rent tax, entertainment tax, advertisement tax and others.
The KMC has set the target to collect Rs 10.41 billion revenue in this fiscal year.
