Kathmandu metropolis has 95.5 per cent literacy

Kathmandu, Sept 13: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has recorded 95.5 per cent literacy. The metropolis has a population of 862 thousand and 400.

Infrastructure development and physical progress of projects and programmes implemented in the Fiscal Year 2080/81 (2023-24) is recorded at 53 per cent, said Sumitra Lamichhane, Chief of the KMC’s Plan Monitoring and Evaluation Unit.

Of the Rs 24 billion 198 million and 485 thousand budget allocated for this purpose in the last Fiscal Year, KMC spent only Rs 12 billion 345 million and 294 thousand. Rs 1 billion 565 million and 700 thousand has been spent on the projects and programmes implemented by the local levels, provincial and federal offices in Kathmandu in FY 2023/24.
