Kathmandu, Nov 27: The Kathmandu metropolis is undertaking a feasibility study to enrich blue landscape (water-based system including river, ponds, taps) and green landscape (parks, gardens and open green spaces).

The study that was launched on July 1, 2024 will compete on March 31, 2024.

The study is focused on rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge, renewal of green corridors and the ecological cycle, greenery promotion in the river systems of the Kathmandu Valley, including the Bagmati River, road networks and liquid waste treatment services, informal settlement management plans and pilot projects, as well as the availability of urban forests, parks, and open spaces.

According to Urban Planning Commission member Baburam Bhattarai, earlier efforts failed to yield expected results as they were sector-based.

The study is technically supported by the Asian Development Bank and it aims to support the integrated development in the town, it is said. #kmc #nepal
