KATHMANDU: The independent Mayoral candidate for Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah continue to lead in the vote counting.
According to Election Office, Shah has secured 30,858 votes while former Mayor Keshav Sthapit from CPN UML has received 16,337 votes.
Likewise, Sirjana Singh from Nepali Congress is struggling in the third place. She has secured 15,960 votes.
In the Deputy Mayor of the City, Sunita Dangol from CPN UML has strenghthen her position. She has already secured 26,575 votes, while her rival is struggling at 8,591 votes.
Meanwhile, Mayoral candidate from Pokhara Metropolitan City Dhanaraj Acharya from CPN (Unified Socialist) has received 29,807 votes while his rival Krishna Bahadur Thapa has secured 26,375.
In Lalitpur, Chiribabu Maharjan from Nepali Congress is leading with comfortable margin. He has garnered 22,820 votes, while his rival Hari Krishna Byanjankar has received 13,124 votes.
Likewise, Renu Dahal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City has so far received 24,107 votes, while her rival Bijay Subedi from CPN UML has secured 20,350 votes. The margin between these two towring figures continue to wide open.
In Birgunj, Rajeshman Singh is leading with comfortable margin while in Biratnagar Nagesh Koirala from Nepali Congress has maintained comfortbale margin.
Overall, the Nepali Congress is leading in two Metropolitan City, CPN (Maoist Centre) is leading in one Metropolitan City, and CPN (Unified Socialist) is leading in one Metropolitan City. One, in Kathmandu, is leading by independent candidate.
The vote counting continues in all these metropolitan cities. The final result may be published within days.
