KATHMANDU: Senior leaders of Communist Party of Nepal (UML) Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal have decided to form a parallel committee within the CPN (UML).

An emergency meeting of the Khanal-Nepal group has decided to form a parallel committee after Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli decided to dismiss all the office bearers except the General Secretary.

Standing committee member Beduram Bhusal said that it was decided to form a parallel committee from the district level on Saturday. “Where we don’t have leadership, leadership will be elected,” he said. “This is a campaign for party restructuring.”

The group says Chairman Oli is trying to create a parallel structure as he leads the party towards dissolution.

Bhusal informed that a discussion has been held between the Central Committee and the parliamentarians for further discussion on the issue. The parallel committee will be announced on March 17. “Our national meeting will be held on March 17. The party restructuring campaign will be announced on that day,” Bhusal said.
