Kathmandu, April 15: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has brought into implementation the ‘carpooling’ – an initiative of sharing vehicles on rotational basis while coming to and going from the office.
KMC’s acting mayor Sunita Dangol informed that a system of operating available vehicles alternately has been implemented to manage current fuel crisis.
Dangol shared the decision was made to avert potential problems that could arise from fuel shortage.
“There is worldwide shortage of fuel at present. If vehicles are operated as usual, even the fuel required for essential work and services may not be available.
To address such situation, it is indispensable to reduce fuel consumption. The carpooling initiative is thus implemented to avoid potential fuel-related issues”.
In the ‘carpooling’ initiative, groups of officials coming from the same area have been formed based on their residential locations. Those in the group will operate their vehicles, on rotation basis, for nearby officials.
According to Dangol, the initiative will reduce number of vehicles coming to and going from the office and fuel consumption pattern. #nepal #rss
