Kathmandu, July 28: A proposal tabled in the House of Representatives (HoR) seeking consideration on “Shahid Dasharath Chand Health Science University Bill” was removed from the Parliament’s agenda on Sunday for lack of lawmakers’ quorum.
Theoretical discussions were held on the Bill in the Parliament meeting.
After the views of lawmakers, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Bidhya Bhattarai responded to the lawmakers’ concerns saying that the Bill was advanced in line with the aspirations of the constitution and viewed that the Bill could be revised during clause-wise discussions in the parliamentary committee.
In the meantime, lawmaker Santosh Pariyar expressed his objection for the lack of quorum in the Parliament. With this, Speaker Devraj Ghimire directed the Federal Parliament Secretariat to confirm the number of lawmakers present at the House meeting.
After the confirmation of the lawmakers’ number which was 67 against the minimum number of 69, Speaker Ghimire informed the Parliament about the removal of the proposal from the agenda.
The Bill was generated from the National Assembly.
