Landslide obstructs Pasang Lhamu road, over 100 vehicles stranded

Dhunche, July 25: Landslide following incessant rainfall occurred on Wednesday night has caused partial damages to Pasanglhamu road along Majhgaun-Bogatitar section

Heavy vehicles are stranded at the highway, the main highway leading to Rasuwagadhi, after gabion wall constructed last year collapsed.

According to Chief District Officer, Bed Nidhi Khanal, movement of heavy vehicles has been restricted along the road section from today until next notice.  There is a risk in surrounding settlements after gabion box of the wall has fallen along the road side.

District Disaster Management Committee said landslide caused damages to Pasanglahmu road after the bodies concerned turned deaf ear to the request of cleaning drainage continuously, giving an outlet to water to other place from pipe, and opening alternative route.

With the damages to the road, 150 containers heading towards Kathmandu from China carrying different types of goods are stranded at Rasuwagadhi.

Entrepreneurs have requested the bodies concerned to bring the road section into operation by carrying out repair and maintenance of the road. They have called for easing the vehicular movement by carrying out repair and maintenance of rural road– Bogatitar-Banuwa and Ambhanjyang Simle, Taruke and Dharapani roads as an alternative route.

Divisional Engineer of Division Road Office, Nuwakot, Subodh Devkota, mentioned that repair and maintenance of rural road – Dharapani, Belchour and Simle was underway from today itself in the first phase to operate it as an alternative route. #nepal #rasuwa #road #landslide
