KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has restarted vaccination drive for the students between 12 to 17 years so as to inoculate those left out in the previous phase.
The target group could avail vaccine against COVID-19 at Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital and Birendra Army Hospital starting from today, according to Education Officer at the KMC, Ram Prasad Subedi.
Furthermore, the students could also be inoculated from the nearest health centres, community health clinic and designated schools. Students are required to show identity card that clearly discloses their age.
The vaccination drive for this age group would run through February 3, said the KMC. There are around 65,000 people ranging from 12 to 17 years in KMC.
Among them, around 50,000 have received their first dose. Most of the people from this age group are studying in 90 community schools and over 500 private schools in KMC.
Although the schools would remain open for inoculation drive, teaching and learning activities would be run virtually to mitigate the risk of COVID-19.
Schools, universities and other academic institutions are shut down temporarily across the country due to third wave of COVID-19.
Most of the academic institutions have resorted to alternative learning methods.
