Bhojpur, July 20: Local residents of Pauwadungma rural municipality in Bhojpur district are at work to conserve and promote Kanyadaha Biskutne, a hill of religious and touristic significance. It is located at ward no 6 of the rural municipality.
Apart from adding up scenic attraction, the people here are also working towards protection of Mangalbare Devisthal, a shrine in the locality.
A local Sugam Rai shared that the villagers were spontaneously coming together to develop Kanyadaha Biskutne area. It is believed one’s wishes are fulfilled when obeisance is offered to the Kanyadaha and Mangalbare Devisthal.
He, however, voiced his concern that many historical structures were on the verge of extinction in lack of proper conservation.
Many hills had structures believed to be built during the greater unification campaign launched by the King Prithvi Narayan Shah, according to the Pauwadungma rural municipality.
The locals have planted saplings of various flowers and fruits in Kanyadaha Biskutne area, added Rai. Religious fairs are held occasionally in the shrines named Aaitabare Devisthal, Sombare Devisthal and Mangalbare Devisthal, it was said.
Another local Harka Raj Rai also informed that the youths currently at foreign employment were extending support for the development of Kanyadaha Biskutne Hill. So far, the youths at foreign job have sent Rs 400 thousand, while the villagers made voluntary labour.
“It is good that the villagers are united to develop and promote this historic place,” he added. Rai further said they were planning to request the State agencies for support to their bid. #conservation #nepal
