Kathmandu, Feb 21: Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani, former chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has advised former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai to abandon his ‘Stalinist tendencies’ and avoid adopting a fascist approach.
Dr. Lohani remarked that Nepal is not Bhattarai personal estate.
‘Is this country your personal estate? Or do you still harbor remnants of Stalinism? The notion that everyone else is wrong and only you possess the ultimate truth gradually leads to a fascist path. Please refrain from embarking on such a journey,’ senior politician Dr. Lohani wrote on social media.
This statement follows Dr. Bhattarai’s remarks calling for action against former King Gyanendra after the latter issued a video message on the eve of Democracy Day.
In his statement, the former king urged citizens to unite to save the nation, maintain national unity, and work towards the country’s prosperity.
Responding to Dr. Bhattarai’s criticism of King Gyanendra, Dr. Lohani said, ‘Friend Baburam Bhattarai, it seems you are extremely agitated by King Gyanendra’s statement about moving forward. Please don’t get overly upset; I am concerned about your blood pressure.’
He further questioned, ‘Is it permissible for you to engage in politics, but not for King Gyanendra to express that he can no longer stand by and watch the nation’s downfall and is willing to step forward to help?’
Dr. Lohani also extended his best wishes to Dr. Bhattarai for his new political party.
