Mahabharat forest fire under control from Monday



Banepa, Jan 28: The fire that broke out in the community forest in the Mahabharat mountain range in southern Kavrepalanchok has been brought under control.

The fire that started from the Mahabharat forest located in Thamalekh Danda in Khanikhola Rural Municipality-1 last Tuesday afternoon was finally put out.

After the fire spread towards Bethanchowk Rural Municipality, the fire in Ramite Danda and Jwanethumka was extinguished by helicopter on Friday. Although the fire had taken a severe form a few days ago it has now been brought under control, according to the Division Forest Office, Dhulikhel.

Chinikaji Shrestha of the Office shared that the fire was brought under control with the help of helicopters along with security personnel and locals.

About 100 hectares of five community forests in Khanikhola and Bethanchok rural municipalities have been severely damaged by the forest fire.

Meanwhile, the tourist spot of Bethanchok Narayansthan closed since Wednesday has been opened from Monday. Domestic and foreign tourists were barred from visiting the area as the forest located in Ward Nos 1, 2, 3 and 5, including the Narayansthan Temple, were at risk. #forest #fire #nepal
