Kathmandu, April 3: A month-long Bahrabarse Pindeshwor Purna Mahakumbha Mela, a mega religious fair, is to be organised from April 9-May 10 at Chataradham of Barahakshetra Municipaliy-1 in Sunsari district.
At a news conference organised at the office of the Prime Minister today, Jagatguru Balsanta Mohan Sharan Devacharya shared that the grand religious event held every 12 years is going to be organised with an objective of publicising to the world the religious, cultural and tourism sites.
Explaining that Chatara, located at the Saptakoshi river bank, is the outstanding holy place from religious and spiritual point of view, he expressed that all who participate in the fair and take holy bath there would be blessed with virtue.
Jagatguru Dewacharya mentioned that Nepal could launch a special campaign to bring in more domestic and foreign religious tourists and pilgrims making publicity of religious and tourism sites as Mahaumbha fair is centre of attraction of Nepal’s religious tourists.
He said more than 10 million devotees from 10 countries including Nepal, India and Bangladesh have been expected in Mahakumbha mela.
Mahakumbha fair is being organised at Baraha Kshetra since 2059 BS at the initiative of Jagatguru Dewacharya. Ardhakumbha mela is organised in every six years while purna Mahakumbha in every 12 years. #Nepal
