Mahaveer Pun honoured in Portugal

PORTUGAL: Founder of the National Innovation Centre and scientist Dr Mahaveer Pun has been honoured in Portugal. The Myagdi Overseas Nepalis Association (MONA) felicitated Dr Pun who is currently on a visit to Europe organizing a programme in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.

MONA honoured Dr Pun in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of study, research, innovation and technology in Nepal.

An interaction was also organized with Dr Pun on the occasion. Dr Pun made a presentation about his works, future plan and the activities of the National Innovation Centre. He said the Centre has been carrying out works related to the development of robot, drones, agricultural tools, educational and medical equipment, food grain and beverages.

Dr Pun underscored on creating employment opportunities within the country to stop the exodus of the country’s youths going on foreign employment. He said the country should be prosperous for this.

He added that the Centre encourages those dedicated to research, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.

Dr Pun left here for the UK on Wednesday after participating in the programmes in Portugal. Before this, he had participated in study visit, observation and interactions with the Nepali communities and the universities as well as research centres in the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Norway, Poland, Italy and Spain, among other European countries.
