MBBS teaching seats : Karnali receives 20, Maharajgunj 100

KATHMANDU: Karnali Institute of Health Sciences, Jumla has received permission to teach MBBS for the first time.

The Medical Education Commission has allotted seats for the undergraduate MBBS program, of which Jumla’s Karnali Institute of Health Sciences has secured 20 seats.

Similarly, Maharajgunj Medical Campus under the Institute of Medicine, TU has got 100 seats. Maharajgunj got 100 seats after 43 years. Earlier, MBBS teaching was allowed in 70 seats as against 79 seats in the previous academic session.

A meeting of the Medical Education Commission held on Friday has fixed the seats for medical programs including MBBS and BDS. Various medical colleges have been allotted 1,835 seats for MBBS and 555 seats for BDS.

Most of the medical colleges have got 100 seats for teaching MBBS. Among them are Birat Medical College, Nobel Medical College, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), National Medical College, College of Medical Sciences, Chitwan Medical College, Nepal Medical College, Maharajgunj Medical Campus, Nepal Army Institute of Health Sciences, KU School of Medical College, Kist Medical College, Manipal Medical Sciences, Gandaki Medical College, Nepalgunj Medical College, Lumbini Medical College, Universal Medical College and Kathmandu Medical College.
