Meeting on UML-JSP power sharing positive, talks again on Friday

KATHMANDU: Positive discussions have taken place between CPN (UML) Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and key leaders of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) at Baluwatar on Thursday evening.

Prime Minister Oli was seen positive on the three-point condition of JSP joining the government.

The JSP leaders Mahantha Thakur, Upendra Yadav, Rajendra Mahato, Ashok Rai, Laxman Lal Karna and others participated in the discussion. On behalf of the CPN (UML), Prime Minister Oli, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrel, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, leader Subash Nemwang, Lumbini Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Dr. Rajan Bhattarai and others were present.

A leader of the party said that Prime Minister Oli was positive about the three-point condition of the JSP party. The leaders said that they have demanded amendment of the constitution, release of Resham Chaudhary and release of prisoners.

An informal discussion is scheduled to be held between the CPN (UML) and the JSP on Friday.

The CPN (UML) is the largest party in the House of Representatives having 117 seats. However, it needs 18 more seats to form a coalition government.
