KATHMANDU: Mega Bank Nepal Limited, in collaboration with Himashikhar Agro, has entered into an agreement with the farmers to provide agricultural loans including technology-friendly farmer cards.
On behalf of Mega Bank, Chief of Micro and Agro Financing Department Punya Prasad Khaniya and Chief Executive Officer of Himashikhar Agro Prakash Chandra Ghimire signed the agreement.
Following the agreement with Himashikhar Agro, Mega Bank will provide agricultural loan and Mega Kisan Card to the farmers in rural areas for purchasing agricultural inputs and seeds required for agricultural production.
On the occasion, Khaniya said that in the first phase, agricultural loans including Kisan Card would be disbursed to the farmers of Province No. 1 through local branches. He said that the service would be provided to the farmers across the country after Province No. 1.
Through Kisan Card, farmers will be able to purchase their essential agricultural inputs, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other items from designated places and shops. Mega Kisan Card is the first modern technology-friendly service in the banking market provided by Mega Bank to farmers, which the bank believes will make it easier and simpler for farmers to transact digital banking.
Chief Executive Officer of Himashikhar Agro, Ghimire, said that cooperation has been established with Mega Bank as it has been providing agricultural loans with priority.
Mega Bank has been providing agricultural loans including Mega Kisan Card to farmers in collaboration with R&D Innovative Solutions and Karma Group.
In the future, Mega plans to provide modern technology-friendly Mega Kisan Card service across the country in collaboration with other organizations related to the agricultural sector, the Bank says.
