KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale pledged to take initiatives in resolving problems facing film artists and entrepreneurs. The Ministry and himself were always ready to provide necessary assistances for film artists and workers exploring tourist destinations and hilly and mountainous areas for shooting.
The minister was inaugurating the 47th annual general assembly of the Nepal Motion Picture Association here on Saturday. He also urged film entrepreneurs to make movies on the subjects of tourism, art and culture of the country.
He praised the roles of the Association in keeping up with digital age. On complaints about movie artists ‘denying minister level respect and a VIP lounge at airport’ when they embark on a foreign country visit unlike their counterparts in neighbouring India, the minister said he on his part would write to the Ministry of Home for a pass for Nepali movie artists to get a VIP lounge during their visit to foreign countries.
“Film artists and entrepreneurs have been facing a range of problems due to global COVID-19. My ministry is ready to resolve these problems,” he said.
He also urged exploration of main tourist destinations like Khaptad, Badikedar, Badimalika, a waterfall in Jorayal and Chhatiban for film shootings.
On the occasion, senior actors and film makers were honoured for their contribution to the Nepali film industry.
