Minister Dr Rana holds bilateral meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister



Kathmandu, Feb 24: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 58th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva today.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to advance bilateral relations between Nepal and Azerbaijan and seek opportunities for future cooperation. Minister Dr Rana congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful conclusion of the 29th United Nations Conference on Climate Change and acknowledged its commitment to addressing climate change challenges.

She pointed out the shared role of Nepal and Azerbaijan as members of the G77, highlighting their continued efforts in raising the problems of developing countries at international forums. She expressed Nepal’s commitment to raising the impacts of climate change facing vulnerable countries in the coming days.

Furthermore, Dr Rana invited Azerbaijan to participate in the “Sagarmatha Sambaad” being held in Kathmandu in May, 2025, a global dialogue platform to discuss issues of regional and global importance.
