KATHMANDU: Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhankri has said government needs to work a lot in short time. Although huge financial resource is needed for infrastructure building, works are going on in limited budget.

Minister Jhankri said it during a meeting with the representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Friday. She urged the ADB representatives to intensify the ADB-funded projects. “As we’ve limited time for many works, the projects should be speeded up,” Minister Jhankri underscored.

According to her, revision of the National Urban Policy and the draft of the Urban Development Bill were in final stage. These would pave way for cooperation of urbanization projects. There are several areas for investment in Nepal, she reminded.

Director General at ADB South Asia Department, Kenichi Yokoyama, viewed ADB was always ready to cooperate with the ministry. He suggested that Nepal forwarded the urbanization project following the Gujrat model.

Ministry Spokesperson Rabindra Bohara said the discussion reviewed the ADB-funded projects and potential areas of future cooperation.

Also attending the meeting were Secretary Maniram Gelal, Director General at Urban Development Building Construction Department, Padma Mainali and others.
