Monsoon becoming more active: Heavy rain in the hilly areas of Bagmati Province

Kathmandu, July 18: Very heavy rain has taken place in the hilly areas of Bagmati Province in the past 24 hours.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, up to 105.4 millimeters of rain has been measured at the Melamchi Rainfall Measurement Center.

The department has stated that monsoon activities will be more active across the country in the next two days as the low pressure system developed in the Bay of Bengal is moving in a northwesterly direction. Department spokesperson Bibhuti Pokharel said that moderate rain with thunder and lightning will occur in most parts of the country today and Sunday, and there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in some places.

Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur in the mountainous and hilly areas of the country, a few places in the Tarai of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and one or two places in the Tarai of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
