Kathmandu, June 18: Southeast Asian country Myanmar has been in turmoil again since February 2021. A river of blood is flowing in the country for democracy and freedom. The Myanmar junta government has been exploiting the citizens by taking away their rights.
Due to the extreme torture of the junta government, Myanmar’s condition has become weak day-by-day. Now, Myanmar has not become peaceful place to live. Myanmar’s government has persecuted everyone, all her bonafide citizens. All the citizens are forced to live with constant fear as bombs may fall from the sky even when they are sleeping at night.
In Myanmar, the army has a different attitude, they take away the people they find in the slums. Those caught in that way are sent to fight with guns or killed or are released only after taking a bribe. The Myanmar villages are empty. The army has implemented a rule that all young people in Myanmar between the ages of 18 and 35 must join the army and do military service. The government has been instilling fear in the people. Myanmar’s army has become the enemy of the people. It has become predatory in the need to protect citizens. This matter is not accepted by any citizen of Myanmar.
Besides, the youths are fleeing because they are unwilling to bear the brunt of the junta government. Most of them have migrated to neighbouring Thailand, Malaysia or India.
Now, about 300,000 Nepali speaking people live in Myanmar. The government has also granted citizenship to Burmese Gorkhali. If Burma is a Gorkhali, the name has also been given prestige and respect. However, many Nepalis have been choosing to escape from Myanmar due to excessive repression of junta government.
The junta government has done everything in the country. Not only the Nepalese speakers were affected by it, even their own caste peole were not spared.
The People’s Defense Force (PDF), under the civilian government, rebels of young students and dozens of ethnic armed rebel groups that have been fighting the state for decades are clashing with the junta.
For the last one year, the government army is facing defeat in many fronts. Rebels have captured some of the border area with Thailand and China. It is claimed that more government forces were killed than rebels during the recent fighting.
The morale of the army has weakened due to the continuous war for three years. Nearly 1,500 soldiers of the main battalion in Shan State surrendered to the rebels at the same time.
