Kathmandu, June 4: Lawmakers Padam Bahadur Pariyar of the Nepali Congress and Krishna Prasad Adhikari of the CPN (Maoist Centre) have called for immediately providing assistants to the people with disabilities (PWDs).
Seeking ‘urgent time’ in a meeting of the National Assembly, the upper house of the Federal Parliament, today, they informed the Assembly that Deepak Bhandari, a person with disability who has been on a hunger strike at Shanti Vatika, Ratnapark in the federal capital since the last 36 days, has fallen ill and been hospitalized. Bhandari is on hunger strike, putting forth demand for providing assistants to the PWDs.
Lawmaker Pariyar called for the implementation of the Act Related to PWDs, 2074 BS and immediately providing helpers to the disabled people on a need basis.
Lawmaker Adhikari demanded that the upper house draw the attention of the Ministry concerned to the need of promptly implementing the Regulation providing for making available assistants to PWDs.
