NAFA to organise Republic Icon statue designing competition



Kathmandu, Jan 8: Nepal Academy Fine Arts (NAFA) has organised a Republic Icon statue designing competition with the objective of creating positive thinking toward the State by means of arts.

NAFA member-secretary Devendra Thumkeli said that the winner of the competition on designing the ‘model statue’ of the republic would bag a cash award of Rs 100 thousand.

According to him, the statue should depict Nepal as an independent, indivisible, sovereign, secular, inclusive, democratic, socialism-oriented federal republic in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal.

The statue should be designed on the theme of the patriotic movement and struggles waged for change in the nation.

Member-secretary Thumkeli said a public notice has been published inviting applications from sculptors for the competition. It is said the statuette should be one to 1.5 feet in size. It should be designed and submitted to NAFA by February 3.

The artist clinching the second position will get Rs 75, 000, the one coming in third position will bag Rs 50,000 and two artists will get consolation prize of Rs 25,000 each. #Nepal
