Kathmandu, July 9: The National Assembly (NA), the Upper House of the Federal Parliament, on Wednesday passed the Finance Bill, 2083, clearing the way for it to be returned to the House of Representatives (HoR).

Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle tabled the bill for clause-wise discussion along with the message received from the House of Representatives. His proposal to take the bill into consideration was endorsed by a majority vote.

Following the discussion, Dr Wagle proposed that the bill be passed without any amendments and returned to the House of Representatives. The proposal was approved by the National Assembly.

During the deliberations, National Assembly members Dr Prem Dangal, Samjhana Devkota, Roshani Meche, and Somnath Portel expressed concern over the imposition of taxes on education and health services. They urged the government to reconsider the provision, citing its potential impact on access to essential public services.
