Kathmandu, Oct 28: The Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted nationwide rainfall and snowfall due to the combined influence of westerly winds and a low-pressure system formed over the Arabian Sea.
According to the Division, moderate snowfall and rainfall are likely in the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces today. Light rain may also occur at one or two places in the Tarai region.
Similarly, heavy rainfall and snowfall are expected in some hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces today. The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, and partly cloudy in the Tarai belt tonight.
The Division further stated that there is a chance of light snowfall and rainfall in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces tonight. Heavy snowfall and rainfall are also likely to occur in one or two areas of the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tourists impacted by snowfall in Manaslu area
The northern belt in Gorkha district has received snowfall since last light.
The local residents have said that snowfall is occurring in different sites of Chumnumbri Rural Municipality.
The normal life in the rural municipality is affected due to the snowfall, Pasang Funjo Lama of Chumnumbri Rural Municipality-7 said. “The area received light rainfall and snowfall last night. Snowfall is still taking place. The people are inside their houses. The yaks are also kept in the sheds,” Lama added.
The villages including Nile, Chhule, Pangdun, Lar, Phurpe, Lamagaun, Burji, Jong, Chhekam and others above an altitude of 3,000 meters are covered with snow.
Likewise, Samagaun, Syala and Lho villages in the rural municipality are blanketed with the snow.
Meanwhile, the tourists and trekkers in the Manaslu region have been affected after the snowfall. The tourists visiting Larke pass have stayed halfway after the snowfall in Manaslu region. #nepal #snowfall #manslu
