NC, CPN UML and CPN-Maoist Centre agree on parliamentary committee leadership



Kathmandu, May 14: Three major political parties, Nepali Congress, CPN UML and CPN Maoist Centre, have reached a consensus on the allocation of parliamentary committee leadership.

According to leaders who participated in the meeting, the meeting held in PM’s Official Residence Baluwatar on Sunday agreed on the leadership of the parliamentary committee.

Prime Minister and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN UML Chairman KP Oli, along with chief whips of the three parties were present in the meeting.

Subash Nembang, who is also the deputy leader of the parliamentary party of CPN UML, said that the committee for UML to lead has been decided.

“According to the previous agreement, UML will lead on public accounts, state directive principles, policies and responsibilities, and another committee. The rest of the committee will be divided by the ruling parties,” he said.

Nembang also informed that the ruling party and the opposition have basically agreed to work consensually in the effective running of the parliament.

As per the consensus made in Baluwatar on Sunday, the name of the committee heads will be decided by today itself.

UML parliamentary party deputy leader Subas Nembang, NC vice president Purna Bahadur Khadka, and Maoist Centre whip Hitraj Pandey also participated in the meeting.
