NC nominates Sunil Thapa for Joint General Secretary

Kathmandu. Sunil Thapa, who left the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and joined the Nepali Congress only last July, has been made the Joint General Secretary by the Nepali Congress.

A meeting of the Central Committee held on Friday decided to make Thapa the Joint General Secretary, said another Joint General Secretary, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat. Thapa is the son of RPP’s founding leader and former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa.

In today’s meeting, a proposal was tabled regarding the management of Thapa Group. Accordingly, seven other leaders who joined the Nepali Congress along with Thapa have also been nominated as Central Committee Members of the Nepali Congress and two as invited central members.

Ram Prasad Bhattarai (Morang), Bishnu Bikram Thapa (Sindhupalchok), Baburam Basnet (Bhojpur), Brijlal Yadav (Bara), Kiran Giri (Kathmandu), T.N. Yogi (Lalitpur), Dilip Rai (Jhapa) have been nomited for CWC Member while Asharam Chaudhary of Kailali and Rajesh Bahadur Singh of Kapilvastu have been nominated as invited central members.

Similarly, today’s meeting has decided to send Mohan Pandey of Syangja to the vacant proportional quota due to the death of MP Surya Bahadur KC.
