Kathmandu: Five secretariat senior members of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), including Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, have requested in writing to convene an immediate meeting of secretariat.

The letter is addressed to Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. They have urged Oli to convene a meeting of the secretariat immediately.

According to party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, a written request has been made to convene a meeting of the secretariat at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar.

He said that Jhala Nath Khanal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and Shrestha himself along with Chairman Prachanda had made a written demand to convene a meeting tomorrow.

He said, “We have to discuss and come up with consensus on several serious issues. We want to unite party, resolve serious matters in a broad discussion within party, and implement the party decisions.”

Shrestha said that the meeting was demanded to discuss the health crisis, problems faced by the people and economic crisis.
He said that the meeting was necessary to review the situation where the implementation of the decision taken by the standing committee meeting could not go ahead and to discuss the crisis in the party and to protect the party unity.
Shrestha said that a written request was made on Saturday considering the situation where Executive Chairman Prachanda repeatedly called for a meeting.

He said that Oli did not give any conclusion about the meeting.
