NDRRMA urges bodies concerned to submit details of disaster-induced loss



Kathmandu, Oct 5: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged the agencies concerned to rapidly assess and collect preliminary details of loss and damage with number of the affected people and sites during monsoon disaster and send the assessment details to the Authority.

A meeting of the Monsoon Response ‘Command Post’ held today at the MDRRMA office has decided to continue search, rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts for individuals affected and impacted by monsoon-related disasters, urging the submission of details.

The meeting also decided to request the concerned local governments and relevant bodies to promptly complete relief, relocation, and rehabilitation work for disaster-affected individuals and families, informed Dinesh Prasad Bhatt, Executive Chief of the NDRRMA.

It was also decided to coordinate with local governments to provide relief to the families of the deceased and make arrangements for free treatment for the injured, he added.

Further, local administrations have been urged not to allow operation of night bus services on risky highways/roads until further notice, considering disaster risk and restrictions on long-distance and vehicles entering/exiting Kathmandu.

The meeting decided to allow the operation of vehicles carrying essential services, goods, and passengers as well as light vehicles that were halted along the highways on inter-district coordination taking into consideration the situation of disaster risk at local level.

The meeting also urged the agencies concerned to carry out repair and maintenance of the roads obstructed, and immediately operate the most essential services, including department of roads, drinking water, electricity and communications.#nepal #rss
