Kathmandu, July 17: Nepal Airlines Corporation, a government-owned entity, has paid Rs. 43 crore 9 lakh recently for the installment of aircraft purchase.
The Corporation had purchased two narrow body and two wide body airbus for international flights by taking loans from the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and the Citizens’ Investment Trust (CIT).
According to the corporation, out of the debt obligations, two installments of the narrow body aircraft have been paid in full and the wide body aircraft has been partially paid. With the arrival of the latest management, the corporation has already paid installments of nearly Rs. 5 arba 85 crore.
Due to the Corona epidemic, the corporation’s business has also been adversely affected, and the corporation requested both funds to help by exempting the penalty and interest for the affected period.
In addition, the corporation also sent a request letter to both the loan providing entities to facilitate the payment of the debt obligations by increasing the number of installments. Ramesh Poudel, the spokesperson of the Corporation, informed that discussions are also being held in this regard.
