Nepal beat PNG by 85 runs, enters in final



Kathmandu, March 12: Nepal has entered the final of the triangular series in Hong Kong. Nepal secured the place in the final by defeating Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 85 runs.

Pursuing the target of 199 runs given by Nepal, PNG managed to score only 113 runs in 16.1 overs.

For PNG, Hiri Hiri scored 28, Sese Baule 21, Tony Ura 13 and Nosaina Pokana added 12 runs, but other batsmen could not score runs in double figures.

On the bowling side, Kushal Bhurtel of Nepal took 4 wickets, Pratish GC took 2 wickets and Akash Chand and Gulshan Jha took 1 wicket each.

After losing the toss and batting first, Nepal lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and added 198 runs.

Kushal Bhurtel and Sandeep Jora scored half-centuries for Nepal. Bhurtel, who played 39 balls, scored 59 runs by hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes. Similarly, Jora scored 56 runs off 26 balls hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Binod Bhandari scored 27 runs and Lokesh Bam scored 14 runs while Gulshan Jha scored 15 runs and Bibek Yadav remained unbeaten on 19 runs. Yadav, who played only 4 balls, hit 3 sixes.

On the bowling side, PNG’s Ashad Vala took two wickets and Nosaina Pokana, John Kariko and Norman Vanua took one wicket each.

PNG and Hong Kong will play in the final match of the league stage today. The winner of that match will compete against Nepal in the final on Wednesday. #nepal
