Asiad cricket: Nepal defeats Maldives by 138 runs



Kathmandu, Oct 1: Nepal has defeated Maldives by 138 runs today in the Asiad cricket match in Hangzhou, China.

Chasing a target of mammoth 213 runs, Maldives team collapsed on 74 runs in 19.4 overs.

Nepali bowler Abinash Bohara took 6 wickts.

Earlier Nepal opted to bat first after winning the toss in Asiad cricket tournament played against Maldives in Hangzhou, China.

Nepali batsmen struggled at Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field in the beginning. However, Nepal managed to score 212 runs in 20 overs loosing seven wickets.

Nepali flamboyant batsman Gulshan Jha scored 35 runs. He faced 21 balls.

But captain Rohit Paudel and Kushal Malla played magnificent inning. Rohit top scored with 52 runs while Kushal Malla scored 47 runs facing just 20 balls.

After being first in the group, Nepal will play against already qualified teams like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
