KATHMANDU: As many as 1,963 new COVID-19 cases and 44 deaths were recorded in Nepal in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the new cases, the country’s tally has climbed to 617,947 on the basis of RT-PCR test including 9.65% of the active cases.
A total of 8,641 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 infection across the country. The second wave of COVID-19 infection has rapidly increased the death of people. According to the ministry, in May alone 4,107 people died while 1,255 have already lost their lives in June (18 days).
With 4,020 fresh discharges in the last 24 hours, the cumulative recoveries reached 549,682.
According to the Ministry, a total of 3,255,579 RT-PCR samples were tested for COVID-19.
It has informed that 2,491,114 people have received single doses of vaccine while 730,728 have received two doses so far under the vaccination drive in the country.
There remain a total of 872 COVID-19 patients in ICUs and 246 in ventilators across the country. Likewise, 55,375 COVID-19 infected people have been in home isolation and 4,249 in institutional isolation.
Meanwhile, Director of Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) along with his team conducted supervision of the Point of Entry (PoE) at Parsa District and oriented and trained the staffs at the PoE in International Health Regulations (IHR), screening and testing, and recording and reporting.
