Nepal lost in practice match with Canada by 63 runs



Kathmandu, May 28: Nepal lost to Canada by 63 runs in the first practice match of the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup.

In a match played at the USA’s Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas with a target of 184 runs, Nepal was bowled out for 120 runs in 19.3 overs.

Sagar Dhakal (5) and Abinash Bohora were dismissed by Dilon Heyliger in consecutive balls to give Canada an easy victory. Heyliger took 4 wickets with 20 runs in 2.3 overs. Jeremy Gordon and captain Saad Zafar took 2-2 and Kaleem Sana and Pargat Singh took 1-1 wickets.

Kushal Malla scored the highest 37 runs from Nepal. Before being dismissed in the 19th over, he hit 2 fours and a six in 30 balls. Opener Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for 10 off 16 balls with 2 fours and Asif Sheikh hit 3 fours off 22 balls and got out for 22 runs.

Anil Sah scored 24 runs. He played 16 balls and hit 2 fours and 1 six. Captain Rohit Paudel 1, Sandeep Jora 6, Gulshan Jha 0, Sompal Kami 4 and Karan KC were dismissed for 5 runs.

Earlier, batting first Canada lost 7 wickets and scored 183 runs in the scheduled 20 overs. Canada made a strong score by adding 21 runs in the last over bowled by Karan. Ravinderpal Singh hit two sixes in the last over. He hit 41 off 17 balls with 1 four and 4 sixes andHeyliger hit 2 fours off 7 balls and remained unbeaten scoring 13 runs.

Nicholas Kirton scored the highest 52 runs for Canada. He faced 39 balls and hit 4 fours and 2 sixes. Aaron Johnson was out for 10 runs, Pargat Singh was out for 13 runs.

Abinash Bohora took 2 wickets for Nepal. He spent 27 runs in 3 overs. Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, Lalit Rajbanshi and Sagar Dhakal took 1 wicket each.
