Kathmandu, Jan 16: The election of the Nepal Medical Association (NMA), largest umbrella of Nepali professional doctors, has been postponed. Issuing a press release today, the NMA stated that the election program scheduled as per the previously announced timetable has been deferred, taking into account the interim order issued by the Patan High Court.
Chief Election Officer Dr. Pranaya Ratna Shakya said that the Election Committee will issue a further notice at the earliest and make public a new election schedule.
The NMA election was earlier scheduled to be held outside the Kathmandu Valley on January 16 and 17, and within the Kathmandu Valley on January 29-31.
Earlier, acting on a writ petition filed by Dr. Ajay Kumar Mishra, the Patan High Court had issued an interim order directing that the election should not be conducted in the current circumstances. #nepal #medical
