Kathmandu, Oct 26: Nepal has participated in the “Falcon Cup” Chinese Traditional Archery Invitational and the 10th “Zhengji Cup” Traditional Archery held in Yulong, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, China.
The competition brought together 160 archers from Hungary, Thailand, Myanmar, and Nepal, as well as participants from various Chinese provinces and regions including Guangdong, Shandong, Chongqing, Anhui, Qinghai, Tianjin, Hong Kong, and multiple areas within Yunnan such as Kunming, Qujing, Fumin, Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La.
Representing Nepal, Mr. Rajiv Maharjan, Secretary of the Kathmandu Zhengji Traditional Archery and Martial Arts Organization, attended the opening ceremony. During the event, the Sports Institute of Yunnan University, the Traditional Archery Association of Yunnan, and the Kunming Genji Archery Club reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate with Nepal in promoting traditional archery, Wushu, and wrestling.
An agreement for collaboration was reached between Mr. Kong Weizhang, President of the Traditional Archery Association (Yunnan Branch), and Mr. Maharjan, representing Nepal’s Martial Arts Organization and the Kathmandu Genji Traditional Archery and Martial Arts Organization.
Previously, both sides had agreed to exchange coaches, provide training opportunities for Nepali athletes, jointly organize at least one event annually, support athlete development, promote traditional archery, Wushu, and wrestling through cultural and social exchanges, and encourage participation in competitions and sports awareness campaigns.
Coach Maharjan expressed that this cooperation would contribute not only to sports development but also to promoting cultural tourism. Association President Kong, along with Wang Zhongpin and Wang Fan, highlighted Nepal as a good neighbor and stated that such bilateral exchanges would further strengthen people-to-people relations between the two nations. #nepal #china #archery
