Kathmandu, May 22: Nepal posted a competitive total of 317 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 50 overs against the United States in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. In today’s match the USA won the toss and invited Nepal to bat first.
Middle-order batter Ishan Pandey led Nepal’s innings with a composed 84 off 83 balls, striking eight fours and a six. Captain Rohit Paudel contributed 46 runs, while Dipendra Singh Airee accelerated the scoring with a quickfire 59 off just 36 deliveries, including four fours and four sixes.
Earlier, opener Kushal Bhurtel scored 29, while wicketkeeper-batter Aasif Sheikh added 43 runs. Aarif Sheikh remained unbeaten on 18 at the end of the innings.
For the USA, Shubham Ranjane claimed three wickets, while Milind Kumar and Rushil Ugarkar took one wicket each.
Nepal entered the match with confidence after registering victories over both the USA and Scotland in the ongoing tri-nation series and are aiming for a third consecutive win.
In the League 2 standings, Nepal are currently fifth among eight teams with 22 points, while the USA remain at the top of the table with 38 points.
