Nepal records 2,636 cases of COVID-19 infection, death toll reached 9,071



KATHMANDU: In the last 24 hours, another 2,636 people have been found infected with the coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, RT-PCR tests were performed on 7,259 people and 4,489 antigen tests

In the last 24 hours, 4,348 people have so far recovered or discharged from health institutions. Similarly, 20 people have died due to corona infection. With this, Nepal records a death toll of 9,071. Mostly, the death occurred in the people of 60 and above years of age group. A total of 4,854 people died of this group i.e. nearly 60 percent of the total death.

Currently, the number of active infected people in the country is 35,310.

According to the Ministry, 302 cases of Covid-19 infection have been reported in Kathmandu, 155 in Chitwan, 150 in Jhapa, 138 in Sunsari, 100 in Lalitpur, 90 in Morang, 70 in Baglung, 61 in Kaski, 56 in Bhaktapur and 51 in Rupandehi.

Likewise, 49 in Bardiya, 41 in Nawalparasi East, 38 in Kailali, 37 in Nuwakot, 26 in Palpa, 24 in Kavrepalanchok, 19 in Dang, 16/16 in Dhankuta and Makwanpur, 15/15 in Dailekh and Humla and Kanchanpur, 14/14 in Bara, Dhading and Surkhet found infected with COVID-19.

Similarly, 53 children under the age of 10 have been found to be infected with Covid-19, while 115 people in the age group of 11 to 20 have been found to be infected with the disease, according to the Ministry.

A total of 2,599,553 people have received first dose of vaccine while 754,542 received second dose.

Meanwhile, Unilever Nepal Limited (UNL) has handed over 34 Oxygen Concentrators to the Ministry of Health and Population on Tuesday.
