Nepal records daily COVID cases jumps to near 5,000 with 35 deaths

KATHMANDU: As many as 4,905 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 across the country in the last 24 hours.

According to the updates of Ministry of Health and Population, the new cases were confirmed through sample tests among 19,123 including 13,217 through RT-PCR and 5,906 antigen tests.

In the reporting period, the corona virus has claimed 35 people (1.41 per cent) among the new infected in different parts of the country. As informed, a total of 2,115 infected have recovered from the virus with the recovery standing at 93.41 per cent.

Likewise, the total number of active cases in the country stands at 37,332. As many as 761 patients are undergoing treatment at ICU while 176 are being treated with ventilator support.

In Kathmandu district alone, there are 7,677 active cases while 213,824 have recovered so far and 1,991 people have succumbed to coronavirus infection.

Bhaktapur has 1,350 active cases, 23,750 have recovered and 397 are reportedly dead from the contagion. Likewise, Lalitpur has 1,883 active cases, 40,230 have recovered and 612 died of coronavirus infection.

The total number of infections has reached 791,910 including 71,230 confirmed positive through Anitgen test. Among the infected are 288,492 female (40.03 per cent) and 432,188 (59.97 per cent) male.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 132,221 people were vaccinated in the country. The total number of people fully vaccinated so far is 2,722,020 whereas those receiving first dose are 4,541,682.
