Nepal Red Cross gets legitimacy after five years

Kathmandu, Jan 11: The Nepal Red Cross Society has gained legitimacy after getting renewal in five years. The elected working committee had taken initiative to renew the organization. It got certificate of renewal from District Administration Office, Kathmandu on January 3.

General Secretary of the Society Bhupati Lal Shrestha shared this information organizing a press conference on Wednesday. He expressed belief that renewal of organization has spread positive message among all associated with the social organization. It would also help in achieving dynamism, he argued.

The organization has been plagued with internal dispute in the working committee for long, resulting into lax activism in the disaster rescue and relief works.

It had lost legal identity after it failed to hold general convention since 2076 Chaitra. As a result, he had to continue its activities in ad hoc basis.

Nepal Red Cross got new 33-member central work committee under the chair of Professor Sudarshan Nepal via the general convention held earlier on July 18 and 19. Nepal said, “The charity would improve gradually. Despite past uncertainty, there would not be any dispute and uncertainty anymore.”

The humanitarian organization, Nepal Red Cross Society, was set up on Bhadra 11, 2020 BS.

Now, it has branches in province, district and even lower levels. It has over 1.2 million volunteers.#Nepal
