Kathmandu, April 25: The first meeting of the aid project that Nepal will receive from China’s self-governing region of Tibet for the next two years has been held in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet.
The Consulate General of Nepal in Lhasa informed that in the meeting held on Wednesday, the focus was on the aid project to be conducted in Nepal. In the meeting, there was a discussion about forming a project coordination mechanism, choosing the format of projects, implementation and monitoring.
Both sides have agreed to hold two meetings in the middle of this year and to review the project implementation at the end. In the meeting, both sides agreed to increase cooperation in improving the living standards of the people of Nepal bordering Tibet, the Consulate General in Tibet said in a statement.
In the meeting, the Nepali side was led by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Kamal Prasad Bhattarai, while the Chinese side was led by a senior official of the Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet.
On Wednesday, the leader of the Nepali delegation, Bhattarai, had a courtesy meeting with the Executive Vice-Chairman of the People’s Government of Tibet Chen Yongqi. On that occasion, there was an exchange of views on various matters of mutual interest, as well as discussions on socio-economic matters to enhance Nepal-China relations.
The next meeting of the aid project will be held next month at a time convenient for both parties.
