Nepal wins opening match against Malaysia in ACC Premier Cup

Kathmandu, April 12: Nepal won the opening match under the ACC Premier Cup Cricket by defeating Malaysia by five wickets.

In the match held in Oman’s Amerat Cricket Ground on Friday, Malaysia chose to bat first by winning the toss and completed the first inning with 143 runs in 20 overs at the loss of three wickets. In reply, Nepal met the target of 144 in 19.2 overs at the loss of five wickets.

For Nepal, Asif Sheikh scored 32 followed by Rohit Kumar Poudel’s 28, Kushal Bhurtel’s 24, Dipendra Singh Airee’s 20, Gulsan Jha’s 19, and Sundeep Jora’s 12.

Toward bowling, Malaysia’s captain Biran Dip Singh took three wickets while Pawandip Singh and Muhammad Wafiq took one wicket each.

During the first inning, Malaysia’s captain Singh with the top scorer with 72 including four sixes and four fours in 57 balls. Similarly, Sharvin Muniandy contributed 41 with two sixes and three fours in 33 balls and Muhammad Amir scored 16 runs in 18 balls.

Similarly, Nepal’s Airee took two wickets and Abhinash Bohora took one. Nepal will be meeting Qatar for its second match tomorrow on April 13.
