Kathmandu, Oct 24: Nepali youth cricket team has won the title of ACC U-19 Premier Cup by defeating UAE by 20 runs.
The match was played at Bayumas Oval ground in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
After the match was affected by rain, UAE got a new target of 198 runs in 27 overs. But UAE were bowled out for 178 in 26.4 overs.
After winning the toss, Nepal chose to bat first and scored 280 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the scheduled 50 overs.
Nepali team captain Dev Khanal made the most important contribution of 100 runs for Nepal. He played 92 balls and hit 9 fours and 3 sixes.
Similarly, Uttam Thapa Magar added 57 runs and Arjun Kumal scored 55 runs.
Arjun and Dev made an excellent century partnership of 125 runs for the third wicket. Deepak Dumre scored 28 runs, Deepesh Kandel got 10 runs, Deepak Bohra got five runs, Hemant Dhami got seven runs and Bishal Bikram KC got out for three runs.
Nepal became the champion by remaining undefeated in the entire tournament.
Nepal was able to select for the U-19 Asia Cup as well.
