Nepali Congress central committee meeting rescheduled for December 26

Kathmandu, Dec 20, 2019 : A meeting of the Nepali Congress central committee scheduled for today has been put off till December 25.

According to party spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma, the meeting has been rescheduled for December 26. Before that we will forge an (intraparty) agreement on the party’s 14th General Convention schedule, about the formation of a central department, on the matters of sister organisations and other organizational issues.

Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel are making efforts to forge a consensus that’s why the meeting planned for today was postponed, it is said.

The debate on fixing that date of the 14th General Convention is affecting the central committee meeting schedule.

In the December 12 central committee, it was proposed to increase the number of departments from 28 (as mentioned in the party statute) to 41, making a review of the recent by election.  

Similarly, the meeting proposed to endorse the decision of Nepal Tarun Dal to extend the tenure of its central committee by six months.
