Nepali Congress wins in Dipayal Silgadhi, Shikhar Municipalities in Doti

DOTI: The result of local level election-2079 has been announced in Doti district.

Out of nine local-levels in the district, the Nepali Congress has got victory in seven local levels. Baji Singh Khadka ‘Bijay’ of the NC has been elected Mayor of Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality while Kalpana Saud of the same party got victory to the post of Deputy Mayor.

Similarly, Dirgha Bahadur Balayar of the NC has won the election to the post of Mayor in Shikhar Municipality and Sunita Rawal of the same party as Deputy Mayor of the Municipality.

Likewise, Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Bharat Badayar Joshi has been elected the mayor of Parshuram municipality in Dadeldhura.
He secured 5,941 votes to win the election against Sher Singh Mal ‘Diamond’ of CPN (Maoist Center) who finished the race with 5,805. The elections for the local level representatives were held on May 13.

Mayoral candidate from the CPN (UML) Keshab Bohara got 2,606. Deputy-mayoral candidate from the CPN (Maoist Centre) Bimala Mahata obtained 5,885 to emerge victorious on the post while her nearest competitor from the Nepali Congress (NC) Kalawati Bohora got 4,593.

In Parushuram municipality consisting of 12 wards, seven wards: 1,4,5,7,9,10 and 12 got the Maoist Centre’s leadership while remaining five wards: 2,3,6,8 and 11 elected the NC candidates as ward chairs.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress (NC) has won so far in 196 local units of 753 under the local election held on May 13.
As per the result made public as of 12 noon today, NC has emerged victorious in 56 municipalities for mayor post and 140 rural municipalities for chairperson.

Similarly, NC has been leading in 60 municipalities and 29 rural municipalities as per the counting that is underway at present. Likewise, NC has also won in 48 deputy mayor post and 139 vice-chairperson posts.

CPN (UML) has won in 29 municipalities and 91 rural municipalities. CPN (UML), the major opposition party to the coalition government, is leading in 45 municipalities and 30 rural municipalities. So far, UML candidates have been elected deputy mayor in 33 municipalities and vice-chairperson in 89 rural municipalities.

CPN (Maoist Center) candidates have won in total 85 local units- 11 municipalities and 74 rural municipalities. The coalition party has been leading in 13 municipalities and 14 rural municipalities. So far, CPN (UML) has secured victory in 16 deputy mayor post and 77 vice-chairperson posts.

CPN (Unified Socialist) has won in two rural municipalities. One of the five-party coalition partners, CPN (Unified Socialist) is leading in 8 local unites in ongoing vote counting. So far, the party candidates have won in chairperson post in five rural municipalities.

Vote count results of two local levels in Rupandehi district have been published.

Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Bishnu Prasad Basyal registered his win as a mayor of Suddhodan rural municipality with 7,983 votes. His close contender CPN-UML’s Kishun Chandra Chaudhary received 6,270 votes.

Likewise, UML candidate Shanti Devi Gyawali has won deputy mayor securing 6,682 votes, according to the Office of Returning Officer.
CPN (Maoist Centre)’s candidate on behalf of ruling alliance, Sharada Bhusal registered her win as vice-chair. She got 3,255 to secure her victory.

Meanwhile, NC candidate Nawaraj Dhakal elected as the chair of Kanchan rural municipality in the district. Dhakal obtained 9,025 votes while his close contender Dinanath Acharya 7,845 votes.

NC deputy mayoral candidate Mausami Thapa Magar secured her victory with 9,194 votes. Her arch-rival UML’s Omkali Rahadi got 7,699 votes.

Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Surendra Shrestha registered his win as a mayor of Madhyapur Thimi municipality. Shrestha defeated CPN-UML candidate Madan Sundar Shrestha by a vote difference of 4,063.

NC candidate Surendra received 15,098 votes while his close contender Madan Sundar got 11,035 votes.

It may be noted that Madan Sundar was elected the mayor of Madhyapur Thimi in earlier local level election in 2017.

CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate from ruling alliance Bijaya Krishna Shrestha registered his victory as the deputy mayor with 12,102 votes. His arch-rival Uttara Nepal of CPN-UML got 8,963 votes.

NC has won wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 9 in Madhyapur Thimi.
