Kathmandu, Feb 8: Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak asserted that the government is taking proactive steps to modernize Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal.
Addressing an event here on Saturday, Minister Lekhak reiterated that the government was also effortful to enhance the competitiveness of these security agencies by maximizing the usage of available means and resources.
He shared that the Ministry of Home Affairs had registered a Bill seeking an amendment to the Acts related to the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal in a bid to modernize both security agencies in a timely manner.
Highlighting other ongoing legislative initiatives, the Minister informed that a bill related to citizenship certificate was registered in the parliament and the bill related to election has been taken forward.
According to him, preparation was afoot to present an amendment proposal to the Act related to immigration while amendment in laws related to land acquisition was in progress.
The Minister apprised that three laws related to organizations were also under consideration in the parliament. He pledged that the remaining bills would be submitted in the ongoing session of the parliament.
He said the Bill related Nepal Police Act had incorporated concerns about service entry and retirement. According to him, there was still room for amendment in the Bill if there were any feedback and suggestions from the police personnel on it.
Stating that the bill was open to amendment, Minister Lekhak encouraged a constructive debate on the bill if there were any concerns left to be addressed.#nepal #nepalpolice#rss
