KATHMANDU: Nepal has lost to United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ongoing ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers in Malaysia.
Nepal lost to UAE by 10 wickets in a match played at UKM Oval Cricket Ground. UAE completed the target of 9 runs given by Nepal in 1 over 1 ball without losing a wicket. In UAE’s victory, Thirtha Satish added 4 unbeaten runs while Labhanya Kenny remained unbeaten on 3 runs.
Nepal, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, lost all their wickets in 8.1 overs and added just eight runs. Sneha Mahara and Manish Rana added three and two unbeaten runs respectively for Nepal. Kiran Kumari Kunwar, Anu Kadayat and Ashma Pulami Magar added 1/1 runs each.
Mahika Gaur of UAE took 5 wickets while Indhuja Nanda Kumar took 3 wickets. This is Nepal’s first defeat in the tournament. Nepal had defeated Qatar by 79 runs in yesterday’s match.
This is the second consecutive victory of the UAE. In the first match, UAE defeated Bhutan by 160 runs.
Apart from Nepal, Malaysia, UAE, Thailand, Bhutan and Qatar have been contesting in the tournament. Nepal will play its third match against Bhutan on Monday.
