KATHMANDU: The NEPSE index closed 13.97 points higher on Monday. As soon as the market opened today, the NEPSE index rose by 50 points reaching to its all-time high of 3,032 which was a new record.
However, an hour later, the market plunged by about 40 points, causing sharp fluctuations throughout the day. A total of 37,571,354 shares of 219 companies were bought and sold in the secondary market on Monday, bringing the total turnover to more than Rs 11.81 billion.
Of the 13 subgroups traded in the market today, eight subgroups turned green and five subgroups turned red. Today, the trade subgroup was the biggest gainer at 5.22 percent.
The shares of Synergy Power Development Company rose the most by 10 percent, while shares of six companies, including Bishal Bazar Company, Nepal Insurance, Citizens Investment Fund and Himalayan Energy Development Company, rose more than five percent.
The second highest turnover was recorded by Nabil Bank at Rs 331.8 million and the third highest by Nepal Bangladesh Bank at Rs 312.9 million.
