Newly appointed Nepal Police IGP Khapung receives insignia of rank

Kathmandu, Sept 4: Newly appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Chandrakuber Khapung officially received the insignia of rank today. The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar, where Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi decorated him with the insignia.

On the occasion, Secretary Duwadi highlighted that the government appointed Khapung to the highest post in Nepal Police based on merit, efficiency, and seniority. He stressed that the police play a vital role in maintaining peace, order, rule of law, crime control, and ensuring social justice in the country.

“It is our collective duty to make every citizen feel safe. Staying close to the people and becoming a companion in their joys and sorrows is a true measure of police effectiveness,” Duwadi said. He expressed hope that the new IGP would further enhance the reputation of the Nepal Police and boost the morale of all ranks to achieve the organization’s goals.

Acknowledging the growing challenges of criminal activities, Secretary Duwadi noted that “new forms of crimes are on the rise, and it is essential to control such activities to establish justice in society.”

Meanwhile, IGP Khapung pledged to serve with integrity. “I will do my best in every possible way, but I will not engage in wrongdoing,” he remarked. He said that welfare of all ranks and institutional reforms would be his top priorities.

Khapung further stressed the need to strengthen Nepal Police’s capacity to deal with modern crimes, including artificial intelligence-related threats, cybercrime, cryptocurrency-related offenses, and transnational crimes. Recalling his journey from a small village in Tehrathum district to becoming the IGP, he emphasized the importance of equipping Nepal Police with modern technology and resources. #nepal #IGP #nepalpolice
